Introducing Ecomus 2.0 – Total Overhaul with Theme Block Support

We’re excited to officially announce a major update to our best-selling Shopify theme – Ecomus 2.0 is now live on ThemeForest!

This is not just a regular update. Ecomus 2.0 is a completely re-engineered version of the theme, rebuilt from the ground up to support Shopify’s new Theme Blocks – a powerful change in Shopify’s core architecture that brings more flexibility and a better customization experience for merchants.

🧱 What Are Shopify Theme Blocks?

In case you missed it, Shopify Theme Blocks is a game-changing new feature introduced by Shopify. It allows merchants to add apps and features directly into sections and blocks – without writing code or manually editing Liquid templates. It's the future of theme customization, and we’ve integrated full support in Ecomus 2.0.

⚠️ Important Note: Ecomus 2.0 is NOT Backward-Compatible with Ecomus 1.9

We know this might come as a surprise, but you cannot directly upgrade from Ecomus 1.9 to 2.0 – and this is not a limitation from us, The4 Team.

📌 This is due to Shopify’s core system change, which makes the new Theme Block structure incompatible with older versions of Shopify themes.

Because of this major change:

• Ecomus 2.0 uses a completely new theme architecture.
• Settings, sections, layouts, and configurations from Ecomus 1.9 will not carry over.
• You’ll need to rebuild and reconfigure your store’s layout when moving from 1.9 to 2.0.

We totally understand that this might be frustrating, and we truly wish we could offer a one-click upgrade, but this change is required by Shopify's new theme framework.

So whether you want to stay on 1.9 for now or start fresh with 2.0 – you have both options available to you.
